Scott Joplin was born in Texas, United States in 1868 and studied as an African American composer in the Romantic period and 20th-century period. He was also known as a pianist and the King of Ragtime. He was taught music free of charge by a German immigrant at an early age. Scott Joplin gave up his day job to travel and perform his music. Many other famous people would have listened to the music created by Scott Joplin in the United States.

Special guests of the SherwinJTB Theatre for this debut include; Scott Hayden (African-American composer); Joseph Lamb (American composer); Richard Wagner (German composer, conductor, theatre director and essayist); Arthur Marshall (African-American composer); Joe Jordan (African American musician and composer); and Artie Matthews (songwriter, pianist, and ragtime composer).
