Roman Hoffstetter was born in Laudenbach, Germany in 1742 and studied as a German composer in the Classical period. He was also known as a choir director, parish priest and organist. He remained in a monastery throughout his career. Roman Hoffstetter produced works for the church and for his own pleasure. Many other famous people would have listened to the music created by Roman Hoffstetter in Germany.

Special guests of the SherwinJTB Theatre for this debut include; Gustav III (King of Sweden); Friedrich Karl Joseph von Erthal (electoral prince and archbishop of Mainz); Francois-Marie Arouet (French Enlightenment writer, essayist, and philosopher); Jacques-Francois Blondel (French architect); Jacques-Louis David (French painter); and Joseph Martin Kraus (composer).

    Roman Hoffstetter was a musical priest. If all priests were that talented I think more people would go to church.
