Alexandre Guilmant was born in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France in 1837 and studied as a French composer in the Romantic period. He was also known as an organist and teacher. Most of his compositions were designed for the organ. Alexandre Guilmant was one of the earliest to publicly perform on the Wanamaker Organ. Many other famous people would have listened to the music created by Alexandre Guilmant in Europe and in the United States.
